Mistint Studios — Privacy Policy

Updated: October 16, 2026

MISTINT STUDIOS (“Mistint”, “we”, “us”) operates a private creative warehouse in East Vancouver, British Columbia, used for photo and film production, meetings and professionally managed events. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through mistintstudios.com, by email and through our booking process, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We handle personal information in accordance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). By using our website or contacting us, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to respond to inquiries, manage bookings and run our website.

Information you give us

  • Inquiry form: your name, email address, company or organization, booking type, proposed date and flexibility, and the brief you describe.
  • Email and phone: anything you include when you contact us at bookings@mistintstudios.com or by phone.
  • Booking details: once a booking is agreed, we may collect billing contact details, the names of a responsible renter or event organizer, attendance estimates, insurance certificates, liquor licences, security or staffing details and other documents required for the booking.
  • Payments: deposits and rental fees are processed by our payment provider. We do not store full credit card numbers on our systems.
  • Newsletter: if you subscribe to updates, your email address and any preferences you choose. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Information collected automatically

When you visit mistintstudios.com, our web server and site tools may record your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring website, and the date and time of your visit. This is used to operate, secure and improve the site.

2. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Reply to inquiries and confirm availability, scope, pricing and requirements.
  • Arrange calls and site visits, and share the studio address with confirmed visitors and renters.
  • Prepare booking packages, agreements and booking codes, and give access to our private booking portal.
  • Process deposits, payments, damage-deposit returns and invoices.
  • Confirm insurance, licensing, security and other requirements for a booking.
  • Coordinate add-on services you request, such as catering, DJs, photographers, videographers or AV support.

  • Meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

3. Cookies and third-party services

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for it to work, and may use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work as intended if you do.

We rely on trusted service providers to run our website and business, including:

  • Website hosting and WordPress to host and operate mistintstudios.com.
  • Google Workspace for email, calendars and documents.
  • Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when fonts load on our pages.
  • Analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), if enabled, to measure site traffic.
  • Payment processors to handle deposits and payments.
  • Email marketing tools to send newsletters to subscribers.
  • Spam protection tools to keep our forms free of abuse.

These providers may only use your information to perform services for us and are bound by their own privacy policies. Our site may link to other websites; we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

4. Photography and filming at the studio

Mistint is a working production and event space, so cameras are often present. Renters are responsible for obtaining any releases or consents needed from people they photograph or film during their booking.

Where Mistint’s resident photographers or videographers cover an event, or where we photograph the space while it is in use, we may use images for our portfolio, website and social media. We avoid featuring identifiable guests without permission. If you appear in an image we have published and would like it removed, contact us and we will take it down.

The studio may use security cameras to protect the premises, artwork and equipment. Footage is used only for security and incident review and is kept for a limited time unless needed to investigate an incident.

5. Sharing your information

We share personal information only when needed:

  • With service providers described above, to operate our website and business.
  • With partners you ask us to involve, such as caterers, DJs, photographers, videographers or AV suppliers, limited to what they need to deliver the service.
  • With insurers, landlords, or City, fire or liquor authorities where a booking requires approvals or an incident must be reported.
  • With professional advisors such as accountants and lawyers.
  • When required by law, or to protect our rights, property or safety, or that of others.
  • If our business is sold or reorganized, to the new owner under equivalent privacy protections.

6. Storage outside Canada

Some of our service providers, including Google, store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Information stored there may be subject to the laws of those countries, including lawful access by their authorities.

7. How long we keep it

We keep inquiry emails and form submissions for up to 2 years if no booking results. We keep booking, payment and agreement records for as long as needed for the booking and for at least 7 years to meet tax and accounting requirements. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. We then delete or anonymize the information.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including secure (HTTPS) connections, access-restricted accounts, two-factor authentication and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices and rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our use of it, subject to legal and contractual limits. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in each email. To make a request, email us; we will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca.

10. Children

Our website and services are intended for adults and organizations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 19 through our website. Bookings for events involving minors, such as bar or bat mitzvahs, are made by a responsible adult.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
